mail2web.com releases next generation of Windows® SharePoint® Services Toronto, Ontario --- December 6, 2006 mail2web.com, a world-wide application provider for consumers and businesses and brand of Softcom Technology Consulting Inc., announced today the release of Microsoft® Windows® SharePoint® Services 3.0. This release marks a huge departure from previous version of Windows SharePoint Services and establishes SharePoint as a platform upon which practical business applications can be built and deployed in a hosted environment. Complicated workflow development, previously only available with SharePoint Portal Server, is now accessible as an on-demand software service. “With this release we are finally able to offer some of the rich features of SharePoint Portal Server that our SME customer base has been asking for”, said Tony Yustein, CEO of SoftCom Technology Consulting Inc. “Dedicated solutions require significant upfront capital and commitment. The software-as-a-service model eliminates this element of risk and applications like SharePoint are on the forefront of providing practical applications designed for the needs and budgets of small businesses”. Another departure with this release is the introduction of Microsoft Office SharePoint Designer 2007. This application will replace FrontPage as the supported tool for editing or designing a SharePoint site. As Microsoft phases out FrontPage from its product line, Microsoft Office SharePoint Designer 2007 will allow a non-technical user to edit and design as well as develop complicated work flows. “We see a whole new market emerging for business analysts who, without programming skills, can build custom applications much faster and at a much lower cost”, said John Carthy, V.P. of Sales and Marketing at Softcom Technology Consulting Inc. “In the next year I expect that a number of those application will appeal to a broad enough market that we can offer them out of the box”. Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 continues to function as a secure, password-protected document repository with configurable access permissions and document version control, however over the next few months Microsoft plans to provide a large collection of purpose-built templates or applications, such as a knowledge base template and CRM template, to meet the immediate needs and budgets of small businesses. Being one of only 5 hosting companies, world-wide, chosen to participate in the early Beta of Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services, mail2web.com will use its in-depth product knowledge to build upon these templates and provide a number of unique on-demand business solutions in the coming year.
