Microsoft® Exchange
Upgrading your email service
mail2web.com is a brand of SoftCom Technology and
a co-brand of myhosting.com, specializing in application hosting. Through
mail2web.com, we offer Microsoft Exchange solutions hosted on Windows
2003 servers. With myhosting.com, we offer bundled POP3 email services
with your hosting plan, hosted on Linux servers.
For those myhosting.com
customers who require more from their email, it is possible to sign
up for Exchange service from mail2web.com, and replace your existing
POP3 email services. For those customers who require both Business
Exchange and POP3, it is even possible to configure your mail2web.com
account with a mix of both types of service.
With Microsoft Exchange 2007 and Outlook 2007 powered by
mail2web.com, you can do more than just send and receive e-mail.
- You
can share calendars, folders, and contacts and can even access your
information from Windows Mobile powered Pocket PCs and PDAs.
- Different
versions of Outlook are available for desktop, browser, and mobile
devices so that you’re always connected, whether you’re
in the office, traveling, or working at home.
- Since you connect
to the same Exchange server, your inbox can stay synchronized, no
matter which version Outlook you’re using. Exchange provides
the collaboration tools and advanced features that many busy users
find they cannot live without. With a hosted Exchange solution provided
by mail2web.com, this is achievable and cost effective even for small
and medium-sized businesses.
But how can
you add Exchange email accounts to your existing domain name?
This
depends on what your requirements are. The following scenarios should
help you determine what steps to take next.
Do you require only Exchange? Or do you want to activate your Exchange service on the exact same domain name as your myhosting.com account?
To do this, you can follow these easy steps:
- Sign up for Exchange services using the same domain you have hosted with
myhosting.com. When you first sign up, you'll be able to choose your first
Exchange account.
- We will take care of the changes for you automatically. You will need to
wait approximately 2 hours before the updates are completed and your first
Exchange account is created. After your first Exchange account is created,
you'll then need to log into your control panel and create any other accounts
that you need.
- After 2 hours, you can check your old myhosting.com email accounts
one last time. These email accounts will still exist, but they simply
will not receive any new mail after approximately 2 hours.
- Optional: You can even use our Email Aggregator service, a
unique feature of mail2web.com’s service, to move any remaining
email from your old email accounts to your new mail2web.com Business
Exchange service.
- You can then add any additional users immediately. Additional users
are created within minutes through your control panel.

Do you want both Exchange and POP3 on the same domain name --
the exact same domain name as your myhosting.com account?

- Optional: You can even use our Email Aggregator service,
a unique feature of mail2web.com’s service, to move
any remaining email from your old email accounts to your
new mail2web.com Business Exchange service.
- You can then add any additional users immediately. Additional
users are created within minutes through your control panel.
- You can even add POP3-only users for $1.95/month each.
This is good if you want a mix of Exchange users and POP3
user on the same domain name.

Do you want to maintain your myhosting.com email service as is on the current domain name, but add a few Exchange accounts? Or do you simply want to activate exchange on a different domain name?
| There are two options available in this
case:
- Sign up for Exchange using an entirely different domain name. If your primary domain name is yourcompany.com, try to select a second domain name that is very similar, like yourcompany.net or yourcompany.biz to use for your Exchange service.
Or alternately:
- You can still use your existing domain name for your Exchange email, but you can choose to sign up under a sub-domain. For example: exchange.yourcompany.com. Then any email sent to you@yourcompany.com would go to your myhosting.com email account, and any email sent to you@exchange.yourcompany.com would go to your Exchange account. This allows you to have 2 different mail systems and only pay for registration and renewal of one domain name.
